Unfortunately, the Piedmont Triad has a presence of threats that we must mitigate to sustain the progression and success the region continuously generates. Our region has historically recruited and thrived within the manufacturing industry, but has neglected to diversify the portfolio by not targeting other industries. This practice poses a threat of overly relying on the manufacturing industry, making the workforce vulnerable to layoffs, relocations, and hiring freezes, especially within advanced manufacturing where the use of automation and artificial intelligence are increasing. The availability of and lack of linking affordable housing to employment centers, renders a major regional threat. Finding, supporting, and funding efforts to address this issue is a top priority moving forward.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
